Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has state of the art facilities consisting of the new Tourism and Leisure building and the Tourism Hospitality Studies programme was the best opportunity for me to fulfil my ambition of working to a management level within the tourism and hospitality sector.

 Why did I choose my course?

  • I wanted to pursue a career with the Hospitality industry.
  • I found out about the course on a visit to the college open day and it sounded challenging and very interesting.
  • The course had academic and practical elements.
  • There was a work experience element to the course.  
  • There is also the opportunity to travel the world with my qualifications and to work in various hospitality establishments.

 

 About WIT:

  • WIT has a pleasant atmostphere and you get to meet new people and from diverse cultures. 
  • The lectures are helpful and they gave me on going guidance and advice.

 

About my course:

  • My favourite subject is Front Office Operations because it gave me great insight into computerised Property Management System such as Opera Fidelio and HOTS (Hotel Operation Tactics and Strategy)
  • There are 11 people in my class in total 3 boys and 8 girls and the exam structure is 60% continueous assessment and 40% final exam.

 

Why you should choose this course:

  • I would recommend this course for anyone who has an enthusiasm for the hospitality industry and who wants to develop a variety of skills such as teamwork, strategic operational thinking, technical and interpersonal skills.
