What is the B.A. in Culinary Arts?
The B.A. in Culinary Arts is designed to develop advanced culinary skills of a specialised nature in chefs who are working in the industry. The emphasis is on extending culinary knowledge and ability in a flexible and imaginative manner towards excellence, innovation and artistic merit.
How does the programme work?
The B.A. in Culinary Arts is offered in Institutes of Technology on a part-time basis, one day per week during the academic year, over a two to three year period.
Programme Modules
The programme covers a number of modules including Classical and Contemporary Cuisine, Pastry and Confectionary, Gastronomy, Food Product Development, Cost management in Culinary Enterprises, Culinary Leadership, and a Synoptic Study.
Admission Requirements
An Advanced Certificate in Professional Cookery qualification or equivalent with recognised work experience.
Prior Learning and experience of mature students will be recognised on an individual basis in accordance with the regulations of the relevant Institute of Technology.
Programme Award
A B.A. Degree in Culinary Arts, level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications will be awarded by the relevant Institute of Technology.
How much does the programme cost?
Fáilte Ireland will contribute to the tuition and registration fees for this programme; however Institutes may require additional payment for some Institute services.
