Bar Skills student wins National Cocktail Competition 2009

Cocktail competition winner

Christopher Hennessy (21), a student from the 13-week Bar Skills course at the Fáilte Ireland Training Centre in Waterford, has won the title of Best Training College Bartender at the Catex Gourmet Cocktail & Long Drink Competition.

Organised by the Bartenders Association Ireland (BAI) and sponsored by Smirnoff Vodka, the CATEX Cocktail Competition is open to bartenders, mixologists and students from restaurants, hotels and bars all over Ireland.

Christopher, who also has a job in Biddy Early’s in Kilkenny, beat six other finalists to win the title. His award winning drinks were an Apple Drop and a Hazelnut Cream.

Christopher was awarded with a Dublin Crystal plaque. Following this success, he is now hoping to progress to the Bar Management course in Cork.
