The picktourism.ie team is working on a new section to the website – the Course Guide - which will explain the different types of tourism-related college courses you can do in Ireland - what level on the National Framework of Qualifications each type of course is, how long it takes to get your qualification, in what kind of college you can do the different types of course, etc.
It will include full-time Institute of Technology courses, work-and-study Institute of Technology courses, PLC (Post Leaving Cert) courses in Colleges of Further Education and Fáilte Ireland short skills courses.
It will also differentiate between CAO courses – for which you apply to via the CAO system - and direct entry courses, for which you apply to directly to the college or to Fáilte Ireland.
At the moment we are speaking to guidance counsellors and Leaving Cert students about how best to categorise these courses to make the section user-friendly for students. If you have a suggestion yourself, e-mail info@picktourism.ie. Every serious suggestion will win a 1GB memory stick!
