About the Competition
The competition is open to all current 3rd level and Further Education students to submit a short video clip, maximum of 2 minutes in length, on ‘why pick tourism - a student’s view of tourism'.
Your video clip should be your view of tourism. What do you think of when you think of tourism? Is there a particular place, person, occasion or activity you associate with tourism. It’s really up to you.
The clips should be original, creative and even humorous to give 15-18 year olds an insight into the various aspects of tourism.
Background to the Competition
The purpose of the picktourism.ie website is to promote tourism courses and careers to 2nd level students with a view to them selecting a Tourism or Hospitality Course in College. The website specifically targets 15-18 year olds. The content of the video entries should be aimed at this age group.

The Winners
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize. An additional cash prize of €1000 will be awarded to the 1st prize winner's 3rd level College/Institution.
Entries can be from individuals or groups but all entrants must be over 18 years and currently in 3rd Level/Further Education.
The winning videos will be broadcast on the picktourism.ie site and on
www.youtube.com/user/PickTourism
Criteria for Success
The clip will be judged on the following criteria:
• Is the clip original in its content and format?
• Is the clip inspiring?
• Is there a clear message or theme to the clip?
• Does it catch the audience's attention?
Important dates
The opening date of the competition is Monday 20th September, with the closing date for entries at 5pm on Friday 26th November 2010. The facility for uploading completed clips will be available from Monday 20th September. Submissions can be made anytime between these dates and they will be subject to approval before being launched on picktourism.ie.
